Tree Farm
In May 2001, Stockade Nursery purchased the (related) business of Buthurra Tropical Trees Pty Ltd, based on an 80 hectare property in Mackay, Central Queensland and assimilated it into the mother company. This acquisition provides Stockade Nursery with a strong presence in the super-advanced in-ground tree market, and we can now provide a complete size range of plant material to the landscape market.
The first nursery pad was constructed at Buthurra in December 2001 which gave us some space to produce 1,500 by 45 litre bag-stock in the slightly warmer climate and a springboard to service the North Queensland market with bag-stock as well as ex-ground trees. Today we have 5 pads completed enabling us a 7,000 container stock capacity.
There is sufficient room for further expansion of our facilities and production capacity for the next few years. We have completed construction of a shade house for the production of our tropical range - the first of many.
